Treating Road Rash: Iodine

Post by Philip Whiteman » 16 Jun 2009 15:11

Not quite technical talk in terms of bikes but this is technical talk in terms of treating cycle related injuries.

I have discovered the secrets of Iodine to anyone that has to treat road rash, unless you suffer an Iodine allergy. I would recommend that you are have some for your first aid cabinet in readiness for the inevitable fall.

Try this: http://www.youreableshop.co.uk/product/ ... E1274.html

Some of my lacerations created two weeks ago were failing to heal So my district nurse gave up with the modern meshes and returned to Iodine. WOW, did it work!

Don't be shy when cleaning out your wounds. Don't fart about by gently dabbing antiseptic wipes across the open wound, you need to be fairly vicious when cleaning out any grit. It is preferable to ask someone else to undertake this task for you.

Incidentally, I am no longer harnessed up like a a basting chicken. The prognosis for fractured clavical is good and I should be back on the road in a few weeks time. I just need some physiotherapy in the mean time.
