Overshoes

Post by GrahamGamblin » 11 Nov 2009 12:34

Hi everyone,
After Sunday's club run, it has become apparent to me that I need a better pair of overshoes. Can anyone recommend any? Does anyone have any experience of neoprene ones - I want some waterproof ones, but concerned that neoprene might be a bit hot and sweaty.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks
Graham

Or from your local Pro stockist..

Best Overshoes I've ever used :D Forget trying to get waterproof ones, your feet will sweat and get just as wet, overshoes which contain windstopper is far more important.

+1 for Pro-Tarmac-NPU

Good fit, nice and warm. I find them pretty much waterproof, I first used mine on an intro run that involved torrential rain throughout and flooded roads - despite several submersions my feet remained dry.

I am, another support of PRO overshoes. Whatever you buy, be careful to buy overshoes with a velcro wrap-round at the top of the boot. This stops the zip working its way open.

However, no overshoe keeps the wet fully out or feet totally warm in horrible conditions.

Hmmm, starting to sound pretty unanimous in favour of Pro, thanks for your replies. I wouldn't expect 100% protection in all conditions, but my current overshoes failed dismally on Sunday. They are budget ones and are wearing out a bit so need replacing anyway.
Thansk again folks.

Another vote for the Endura ones.

I've been really pleased with the BBB ones - very robust and pretty waterproof.

Overshoes!?! When it's 12 - 15 degrees C?

I'm inclined to think of woolly socks and mudguards long before reaching for the overshoes.

Fair enough, George, but I was thinking more of keeping (some of) the water out after Sunday. In any case, it won't be 12-15 degrees all winter!

I went for the Pro ones in the end. In the spirit of scientific enquiry I took them out for a ride last night into a stiff chilly breeze and pouring rain, and I am pleased to report that they performed very well. Some water got in, inevitably, running down the legs of my tights, but my feet were still kept warm.
As I slogged through the rain, I felt that I had achieved the SAS level of hardness to go on a B run. 8)
