Handwritten in Knightwick

After my crappy recent experience of tyre failure, I decided to revert to Continental tyres for the winter. During my twelve-month dalliance with another brand, Conti have added something to their sidewalls: the words 'Handmade in Germany'.

Underneath my winter saddle, it says 'Handmade in Italy'. The thing is moulded plastic and foam hermetically sealed around a preformed steel frame.

What part of the making of these products was done by hand? Some minimum-waged Albanian pressing a button on a machine to make it go psssh-kerchunk and spit out another one?
