Hemp!

I wonder if it turns to mush or starts to rot when wet.

However, bamboo is not new. I believe that some Flying Pigeons are constructed out of bamboo and used quite widely in the far east and Indian sub-continent. Perhaps Richard Kent is secretly riding one in Goa.

I had a pair of bamboo sprints which some 'do-gooder' unloaded on me, cheap, when I was a gullible and poverty stricken junior. I believe they were quite commonly used for grass track racing pre, and immediately post, war. I think I only used them once, riding to an inglorious DNF in the club '50'
It is better to be interesting rather than exact

i thought the reason that panda bears were dying out was because the world supply of bamboo is running out. surely a bike made out of bamboo is only going to add to the problem and make it very un-ecological. unless you give the bike to the panda's once you've finished with it
