eTrex - how is yours mounted

Post by AlanW » 08 Apr 2011 12:31

Pictures would be good?

Just trying to get a feel what mounts people have or are using?

The Oregon has a fantastic little handle bar/stem mount that really works/looks very well.

Standard Garmin mount (oversize) with a couple of bits of insulating tape in the slot to prevent rattle. Short lanyard looped around stem. Looks insubstantial but it's light & neat and hasn't let me down yet.

Standard Garmin mount (I've got 3) with Bit-O-Plastic™ to stop it rattling. Works just fine.

Thanks chaps, that's very useful. Did I read somewhere that there was some issue with this bracket and it not fitting the newer versions?

Can you buy a oversize one as one unit, or do you have to buy two different parts to make one, if that makes sense?

The clip that is supplied with the Etrex which screws onto the back fits the oversize handlebar bracket that's bought separately.

Arrrrr.....so that's what the little piece of black plastic is with a small screw in the middle of it?

So I presume then that you screw that onto the rear of battery compartment cover and then buy This

Is that correct?

Correct. I believe the official tool for screwing it on is a 5p piece.

Have you a part number for that official tool?
