Any recommendations? Maybe looking at tacx sartori pro at decathlon it's £150 and includes mat, training DVD and front wheel block. Can anyone tell me does this type of trainer wear the rear tyre? Was hoping to avoid getting a training tyre/wheel. Thanks, tim

Tim - all turbo trainers will wear the rear tye - but i've used them a lot without having a dedicated turbo trainer tyre and never found it a problem.

Just dedicate an old wheel with an old tyre that's no good for anything else to the purpose.

On the flip side, I would 100% recommend using a proper specific turbo tyre, as it is a much softer compound, and will therefore not require as much tension between the tyre and the turbo trainer shaft.

Two advantages here:-

1) With less friction it 'rolls' much better and feels more realistic to riding on the road.

2) With less friction, you will not wear out tyre, even the softer compound turbo tyre.

I agree its a bit of money to fork out, but it is worth the additional expense.

As for turbo trainers, I would recommend the Tacx Flow, bit more money than you want to spend, but e-bay is your friend.

Better still, get yourself some rollers instead, much more "fun".........

The wheel needs to be true though. It can get pretty annoying otherwise.
