Looks interesting. Not too sure about the italics though. Can the yellow be softened?

What's that carrot like object in the cloud on the left hand side?

Seriously....

I don't think fonts should be mixed - I know the existing logo does this but I still think it's wrong.
I'd prefer gold to yellow.
The green is a bit too bright for my liking.
I'm not keen on the smudges around the BEACON lettering.
Other than that I like the crispness you've introduced.

Check how it responds to being reduced in size.

THERE NOT SMUDGES its shadow, also its actually gold if i lower the luminance also i didnt want to change the design because you need permission and that would mean changing the logo itself, its like changing the Disney font to times new roman, nobody would no who they were, and yes i will modify everything and post a newer version which is slightly darker
Oh yes the only reason the green seems bright is because of the lighting effects, if i totally get rid of them then you'll see what im talking about, and in my opinion it will make it dull.

Steve i have the software to reduce something but without killing any pixels off in the process, ill reduce the current logo if you wanted to use in documents, such as membership forms, or ill post this with a white back drop and ill purposly create a smaller version so you dont have to worry about reducing it, i hust need the dimensions you want it reduced to

I think the 'BEACON' looks something like Zapf Elliptical 711 (bold) http://www.identifont.com/show?27Y, and the 'ROADS CYCLING CLUB' is Helvetica Condensed http://www.identifont.com/show?MT (or Arial Narrow)

How about making the yellow / gold bands a little thinner? Maybe all the same thickness as the inner band?
