Has anybody taken the plunge yet and gone tubeless on their road tires?

Not yet, but I intend to this year at some point. I went tubeless on my MTB 3 years ago and was the best thing I ever did to be honest.

Other than the faff in fitting the dam things to start of with, but with narrower tyres it should be a lot easier...

I have been looking into it but it looks much more expensive than converting a MTB. From what i can gather you need tubeless compatible rims and tires?

I dont know about converting non tubeless road rims as I already have a set of road wheels that are tubeless compatible.

What advantage does a tubeless tyre offer over a traditional tubed one?

from what i can find on the internet they suffer far fewer **flat**s (as the sealing agent in the tire fills them)

If they are as good a mtb tubeless then you will never have to fix a **flat** again

That's impressive....could be upgrading!

Ride is 100% better, only thing is you may need access to an air compressor for the initial fitting.

I would like to see the same thing done with a tubeless road tyre combination to be honest. But as I have said before, going tubeless on the MTB a couple of years ago was the single best thing that I have done for years, but I am not 100% convinced that it will work as well with road tyres.

For the exact same reason that Slime tubes work well (IMHO) in MTB tyres but not so well in road tyres. Its the low pressure / high volume vs high pressure / low volume thing isnt it?

That said, I looked at my tubeless road wheels again this afternoon and got as far as getting the 'Stans' tubeless valves and the sealant out of the cupboard.

But didn't go any further other than just top up 2oz of sealant in my MTB wheels....

Someone else can go first.....
