anyone out there with a bb30 bearing extractor tool

Post by Artdent » 28 Mar 2013 17:33

Mine failed to arrive before the end of term and is set to be delivered to the school doh.
So I am left with 2 crank sets both off the bike and 2 very stubborn bearings in the bottom bracket shell. The irony is that i have all the tools to press the new bearings into place but not to extract the old (and decidedly dodgy ones) any help gratefully received and it serves me right for adopting a newish standard ie bb30

Hi
I managed to remove the bb30 bearings from my Boardman CX by careful use of a suitable metal drift. Just work round the bearing being careful not to catch the very large circlip that the bearing sits up against!
On installation ensure the bearing is being drawn in "square" to the B/B.
Good luck
Richard

What diameter did you use for the drift because I have been trying that approach for 3 evening now.

I suspect that a drift would be easier to use to be honest.........

Used a drift and hit it harder with the bb braced against something a bit more solid than thin air.
So now I have something more made out of carbon on my bike that my ability in no way justifies. This is my single handed attempt to jump start the economy by purchasing things from bike shops.

Thanks for your suggestions
Richard
