Alternatives to Brooks B17

Post by slogfester » 04 May 2013 15:19

After 6 months and c. 1000 km I have concluded that my B17 just doesnt fit my derrier. The saddle is too wide and causes pain and chaffing despite trialling various nicks and creams. So...

Can anyone suggest alternative (probaby thinner) saddles for flat bar touring bikes?

Thanks

Barry

Have you considered the B17 Narrow?
I've had one for 2/3 years with no problems.

hi chris,
my understanding is that the B17 narrow is intended for bikes with drop bars and a more forward position?
thx

I've been using Selle SMP for several years and love them. They're not available everywhere, but Chain Reaction have a wide range.

Saddle comfort is a very individual thing, though: one man's meat is another man's poison. So you're as likely to find one that suits by picking one with a similar shape to things you've used successfully before as you are to find one by following my (or anyone else's) advice.
