Beacon Bikes!

http://www.beaconfell.com/

Saw a full page advert for this new bike brand in cycling plus

Will be interesting to see the bikes. I grew up in the Ribble Valley and so had pencilled in a Ribble as my next bike but this brand may change that!

Creates a couple of questions in my mind:

Are there copyright issues here?!
Can we get them as sponsors or surely they'd give us a good club discount?

hmm but I would of thought that but paramount cycling could be in infringement with paramount studios!

Dropped into their shop The Fell in Whalley Lancashire today.

Was extremely impressed with the bikes I would say they compare very well with Condor or Colnago and having seen them I'd say they are fairly priced. The full range were impressive inc tt and cx. How they ride I obviously don't know but their 'all our frames are tested by Rob' (Hayles) hopefully counts for something.

If I was buying a full carbon bike and had a spare £2k-£3k this would be what I'd go for.

Think there is another thread on this but couldn't find it, could they be merged?

I too was in Whalley yesterday! Beacon bikes and parts are top priced and obviously aimed at the affluent denizens of Whalley. However the chief mechanic (Spike) is very competent and they do serve decent coffee Worth a look round but consider carefully where to spend money.

Certainly aren't cheap but their top race bike the BF 100 is £2600 with Sram Rival exactly same as a Condor Squadra with same set up.

The BF-70 Sportive Bike I would say also compares fairly similarly to many bikes on market at £1599 with 105 groupset. Their entry BF-60 looks bit more overpriced at £1299 with just Sram Apex.

All of them looked the business though. Better the Beacon name being put on decent expensive bikes than cheap rubbish ones at Halfords anyway I reckon.

They've also launched a pro team, co-sponsored by Haribo (really): http://goodtogreat.cc/.

Off to winning ways

Went into their shop again this week. Had Davina McCalls signed bike in there hat she justrode from Edinburgh to London on for sport relief.

Looking at their brochure I think they are going to add two aluminium bikes to their initial carbon line up.

They will be at cycle show at NEC in September for anyone wanting a look

Anyone check these out at Cycle Show?

Their bike builder website is going live soon.

I had a look at them mainly attracted by the name. TT bikes looked good but so so many good looking bikes around I got a bit overwhelmed and lost whenever I wandered far from the CTC stand.
