Servicing Shimano SPD-SL pedals

Post by laurence_cooley » 14 Jul 2013 17:44

The right-side Shimano 105 pedal (the side I unclip from when stopping) on my steel bike seems to have lost almost all of the tension in the binding. I've always had it on the loosest setting, so I guess I could just adjust it to make it tighter, but wondered if it might need servicing? Does anyone know if this is possible? I know it's the pedal rather than the cleat because on my other bike the identical pedals clip in and out with a nice snap noise.

Have you had a look on Sheldon Brown? It's the type of thing your likely to find on that site.

Yes, I did check on Sheldon Brown, but SPD-SL seems to be a bit after his time so there's not really any useful information. Perhaps the spring is just coming to the end of its useful life.
