My Garmin Edge 500 has stopped picking up satellites. Have done a firmware update.

Anything I can do or is it dead?! Was wanting to sell and get a 510

Have you tried a full reset? Not sure how you invoke that but can't be hard to find.

Its easy enough to do, just make sure that you save all your personal data files first, then reload them afterwards.

Occasionally, satellite data can become obsolete or corrupt preventing the Edge 500 from acquiring a satellite lock. Performing an AutoLocate on the device removes all of the current satellite data and allows it to re-establish a proper connection with satellites.

An AutoLocate may also be necessary in the following circumstances:

Device has not been used in over two weeks
Device is powered on in a location that is 150 or more miles from where it is normally used
Distance or speed data appears to be inaccurate as a result of a corrupt satellite signal

To perform an AutoLocate:

Ensure the device is powered off
Press and hold Lap and Start
Press Power
Release Lap and Start when the Garmin screen appears
Leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of twenty minutes

Edge 500 will now have current satellite data, providing a good satellite lock. This will decrease the chance of inaccuracies in distance or speed.

Thanks guys. Not sure which bit did the trick but it's working fine now, although the HR strap isn't!

Not surprised, the Garmin straps are pretty useless, That said they have launched a new one of a different material? However, I would a Polar one, the Garmin sensor fits it okay

I had mine day the day of the Kiddie Killer! Knowing the Reset is really useful!
