Shimano shoe fault

Post by laurence_cooley » 03 Oct 2015 16:51

I've just noticed that the carbon sole has started to come away on the right foot of my Shimano R170s, which I bought last February (photo). I'd like to get another pair as they've been the most comfortable road shoes I've ever owned, but them only lasting just over 18 months puts me off a bit. I've noticed that quite a lot of Beacon members have these shoes (or similar-looking Shimano ones at least), and was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same? I've not found many complaints online about them.

Also, what should I use to glue it back together? :(

I've just bought a pair. Do you block up the vents in the soles for winter?

If you can get down to Shepton Mallet, I'd recommend a visit to the Rapha Archive store.

They have the GT Shoes which normally retail for £300 and are now £150.

fab shoes. my c. 5 year old ones survived several offs. but I left them in the UK on this trip, so bought some new ones DownUnder 6 months a go. the big kick ass vents on the front are a boom in aussie melt-in-your-wellies heat. we all gafer tape the vent for 'winter' here.
Belt up, we're going for a ride

Thanks, all. I can't say I've ever bothered taping up the vents myself, Martin, but I know that some people do. And Nick, I don't think even my taste for a Rapha bargain would see my go all the way to Somerset for a pair of shoes!
