Battery Replacment - Edge 500

Post by AlanW » 03 Mar 2016 13:27

The battery on my trusty old Edge 500 is well place the duration in which Garmn say it should last. So just looking at getting a replacement battery ready for when it finally expires.

There are plenty of videos on You Tube and it looks easy enough to do and a replacement battery can be bought for around a tenner on e-bay/Amazon.

Just wondering if anyone has replaced a battery on one and if it is as easy as the You Tube clips suggest?

Alan,
Never done one on a 500, but I did replace my 705 battery, it was a piece of cake.
The kit from eBay even came with the security torx screwdrivers.
The battery itself had a block connecter that plugged straight into the board, no issues at all and works great.
Pity the units knackered, just ordered a 1000 to help with my natural sense of direction :)

Cheers Gaz, I looked at getting a 'kit' from the States via eBay but the shipping was nearly twice as much as the battery was!

Just looked at mine and it has 2871 hours, 51 minutes and 56 seconds so far, or in miles 48,511.45
