Commuting Wheels

Looking for a durable 700c commuting / touring wheel set on account that my rear wheel fell apart this morning on the way into work (getting a lift home!). I run 35 mm tyres, SRAM 10 speed, caliper brakes. Don't care about weight.
Can anyone offer any advice? They'll get a bit of a pounding down the canal towpath.

Make sure the hub spacing of wheel you purchase matches the frame. I think road bikes usually 130mm (but not with disc brakes), many hybrid or cyclocross bikes are 135mm

Thanks Martin I'll check - I think it's 130mm. Somebody recommended Spa Cycles in Harrogate to me. Prices seem fairly reasonable.

Depends on how much you want to spend really, but I have a pair of the above wheels that I bought from Merlin and use them every day during the winter months.
On the flip side, I also bought a pair of
THESE also from Merlin. I bought these first, but they are to nice to ruin during the winter, hence why I then went out and purchased the other ones

I have Exal LX 17 rims on Shimano hubs on my Bob Jackson tourer they are very robust and can be obtained from Spa (I think).

Thanks for the advice - lots of options out there. I've gone for a set of hand built wheels from Spa Cycles after an informative chat with them. Cheaper than I thought - 36 spoke rear, 32 front. Looking forward to seeing how they ride.
The factory wheels that came with the bike lasted 18 months before exploding - I'm hoping these will do a little better.
