Fan for turbo/rollers

For the last few years I have used a normal (cheap) 3 speed pedestal fan for turbo/roller work but I've always considered that it didn't provide sufficient movement of air.

So as that time of year is very quickly approaching I'm looking to improve on that and go for a high velocity 18" fan, but I cannot decide on which would be better, floor fan or pedestal fan?

That said, I'm guessing that it has to be the pedestal type as you can get the height to direct the air flow straight onto your face. But I like idea of the floor fan as its easier to store and not quite so "in ya face" as the pedestal ones? Plus they are cheaper!

For example

Amazing how much difference a decent fan makes to comfort and performance on a turbo.

I got an 18" high velocity floor fan from Screwfix. Only ever used the lowest setting. Placed directly in front and angled slightly upwards.

The model I got (FE45) is no longer listed. This looks the same but is £10 more expensive than I paid. And it's currently out of stock.

I think I've got the same one as Andy. It came from Screwfix, too, although I'm sure many of the ones on eBay are made by the same manufacturer. It works fine from the floor, angled up.

One 18" high velocity floor fan now on order :-)

As a point of interest, and don't ask me why, but I had the Brompton on the rollers last night. If nothing else, it was different!

OK, I won't ask why. It's an option that Zwift should consider though.

Sounds dangerous. I've not cracked them on a road bike. There was a guy on my coaching course who brought a Brompton as his bike, he face planted during one of the sprint exercises!

I also have the same one as Laurence.....it's an excellent air pusher and not too loud. On full blast it's like sticking your head out of car window at 30mph.
