Has anyone had similar issues with these creaking like mad, its driving me bonkers. I've cleaned and lubed them but it persists. One decided to fall apart on me the other day and I re greased the spindle and re tightened but ironically its the other one that creaks more.

I've just had to chuck a pair away after 3 years use. One had seized and the other was about to - sort of happened overnight starting with a squeak. I now figure squeaking is a pre-requisite to failure - I did chuck some oil into the bearing but the damage was done by that point. They're cheap enough though so 3 years in all weathers wasn't too bad.

I thought as much Colin, I've had a good 2 1/2 years out of them, so I can't complain too much.

Mine have always creaked slightly under heavy load (maybe a year old now), just assumed it was a 'plastic noise'. Thanks for the headsup

I've just got over to look pedals from shimano, as a result of buying Garmin vector pedals for TT S rarther than any issues with Shimano which I have always used . How ever when changing some our from bike to bike I've noticed quite a bit of play in the spindle of on pair in only 3 months . Don't think you would get that in 3 years with shimano.
I do find them slightly easier to clip in to . But the cleat covers are a bugger to get on when they are cold
