In principle, I'm okay with that Beckie. The only thing I'm thinking is that there's still 48 hours to go, and more people may well come forward wanting to do either a B-pace or C-pace ride. I therefore suggest that, if there are only eight of us at the BH, we'll all ride as one group at C pace. However, if there are more takers, we'll split at the BH into a slightly faster group and a slightly slower group. Then we can do the same route with the faster group starting a couple of minutes ahead, and meet up again at the café.

The description of this ride may be amended slightly once we hear back from Beckie and Mark, but any tweaking of the plan will still leave C riders catered for.

Although Sunday is still forecast to be a mild day, the forecast minimum overnight temperature for Saturday-to-Sunday is lower than the long-range forecast was suggesting a few days ago. It's now forecast to dip close to freezing in the small hours, before rising steadily during the morning to high single figures by the time we stop for coffee. So there's a chance of a bit of frost in sheltered spots early on. We'll keep the situation under close review, but it might be that I opt to main-road it to Marlbrook, in order to avoid the descent of Redhill Lane. Final decision will probably be made on Sunday, when I see what the roads are like.

I've just noticed that I was a little careless dropping a waypoint when plotting the route. There was a little dead-end spur into Cur Lane, near Tardebigge on the return route. I've now corrected it. If you've already downloaded the route, you may want to re-download; otherwise just bear in mind that, at the end of Copyholt Lane, we're going left into Holyoakes Lane, not straight ahead.

I've discussed the expanded group size with the café, and they're okay with it, so we're good to go in that respect. Just waiting to see what the frost situation is now, but forecast suggests that temperatures should be positive from about 6am and it'll be sunny first thing, so hopefully we'll be okay.

I thoroughly enjoyed today's ride and hope everyone else did too. Nice to meet a few people who previously I knew only as names on lists. Many thanks to Pete for stepping into the breach. Beckie, I hope you manage to get the bike sorted soon, and look forward to seeing you out on a ride again before too long.

We rode as two groups, but the composition changed between the outward leg and the return leg, so there's just one list for simplicity:

On the ride:
George Barker (L)
Pete Norman (L)
James Perrett
Naomi Bell
Mariana Sorrill
Chris Yan
Steve Vaughan
Colin Hall
Mark Stammers
Jon Saddler
Mick Stanford
Will Woodhouse

At the café:
Dave Cole
Dave Hughes
John Hitchcock
John Stewart
Neil Evanson
