Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 28th of April

WEEKLY UPDATE:

It was the weekend of the Little Mountain Time Trial (LMTT), and a dry day saw the usual impressive performances, with a winning time of 1 hour 37mins for the hilly 39mile course, Ed Moss was the fastest Beacon rider at 1:54...great ride, Ed. This event is part of the CTT Classic Series, and next year is likely to be the National Championships, which is testament to the reputation of the LMTT in terms of the tough parcours as well as the excellent organisation of the event. Such praise therefore goes to the chief organiser John Hitchcock (who wins the kudos of the week), but also to Chris Hudson, and all the timekeepers and marshals that make this such a well run event. It was great to see that we had a full quota of marshals all stepping up early to help... Tremendous effort, all!

Other notable events of the weekend was the Black Country Sprint Triathlon at Wombourne, where Anne Hughes and Sam Boswell were superb, Anne winning her age group again (of course!) and Sam being fastest Female in any category, winning by over 3 mins, which is just fantastic in her first triathlon back after Sarcoma Cancer last year...Not only that, but the fastest male on the day was Chris Ashford, now representing our friends at Solihull CC, but formerly of this Beacon parish, who is storming back into form after a hiatus in training after his wife having a baby some 18months ago... Just fabulous Chris, and Sam and Anne!

So there were no club runs last weekend due to the LMTT, so let's get back to normal this week! It is the week of the Big Beacon Bash to Mallorca with over a dozen of us out for a few days over this weekend, (and the Mallorca 312 on Saturday), but there are plenty who aren't there so why not lead a ride as we storm headlong into the month of May.

Happy Riding.

Phil
