112 miles wandering in the countryside at 14mph. Sunday 1st May. 8:15 dep.
As per our initial plan let's keep cranking the distance up even further past the hundred milers mark .
This week will be based on a home made ride I created last year to explore a corner of the countryside I did not know well. Not as flat as one might think but very nice. Only modified it to add an extra 13 miles to accommodate our ramp-up training.
180 km / 112 mi.
For those who might already have downloaded the route in advance (I doubt there's such a fan base) please download the revised version where I removed Astwood Bank and St Kenelm's pass to have the ride a bit easier on the legs: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39196266
We'll keep focusing on managing the energy, hydration and effort over the whole ride bearing in mind and adapting to the speed of the slowest participant.
So I do not expect any longer to miraculously achieve 15mph average speed. much more likely speed 13.5/14 mph
We'll have a coffee break in Whitlenge who says they do serve traditional breakfast, sure you don't want to do a last 100 miler+ Andy ?
Possibly another quick ice cream stop later in the afternoon if we can find a shop alongside the route.
Meeting at the BH for a 8:15 departure. Return ETA 17:30 depending on pace and length of stops
Cedric G.
Ian Gannon (if his bike's back from the shop)
Will Woodhouse
Mark Stammers
Please note that due to medical reasons I use a handle-bar extender, a bit like TT-bars. I use this to relief the pain of NHS diagnosed trapped nerves in my wrists and elbow. I do NOT use these to ride like a TT racer, to draft behind others or similar performance seeking stunts.
Every bike ride, be it commute, ride alone or in group, entails its share of risks (bad road surface, motorised traffic, natural elements, our or other riders' mistakes or inattentions...). This is common knowledge and we all ride at our own risk. Nevertheless if my use of this extender this makes you feel uncomfortable, please do not join my rides.

Spectacular.
65 miles completed in 4:25 and I came 2100 out of 6100.
Pretty happy with that.

Hi Cedric,
The sore knee seems to have settled down so sign me up. If the knee does start playing up again I'll bail out and head home.
Cheers

The weather is looking rubbish tomorrow and don’t fancy 8 hours in the rain. I’ll probably take a rain check.
Sorry for the late notice.

I know. Been thinking the same for the last 3 days. Been going out Friday, was supposed to be 12°C max and I ended being overdressed with 20°. The forecast are so rubbish. Wouldn't like to get soaked for 10 hours but are we sure we won't miss the sun? The forecasts keep changing, rain no rain, cold not so cold. Utter useless rubbish.
Likely to go out still and if it turns out rubbish I'll shortened it and turn back for a hot cup of coco at home!

Painful knee, sore throat, busy with DIY, put off by rain, this ride lost many tentative participants and ended up only with
Cedic G (L)
Ian Gannon
ride was shortened by nearly 20 miles as weather wasn't that pleasant and Ian's knee started seeking attention
