Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 12th June

Post by WorcsPhil » 06 Jun 2022 17:36

WEEKLY UPDATE:

So the jubilee weekend came and went, and whether you're a royalist or not, at least it made you feel a little bit better about the country for a while (ignore this opening line if you're a grouch). but the summer still refuses to arrive meaning we are all still riding in rain and cold, and it's only our volcanic hearts that are warming the air.

It was another weekend of long rides, not only Nick Shenton's 350kms jaunt to Liverpool and back on Friday, but Cedric's '300kms in June adventure' continued with another 200kms warm-up ride, meaning there is now less than two weeks till his maiden 300kms ride. Well done to all the long distance machines of Beacon.

We seem to be turning into a long distance club at present, but there's still plenty of other things going on of course...get your name down for the excellent Tuesday club runs, and our flexibility in letting the leader plan whatever they want to do is great, with rides available on Thursdays and this week Mariana has also suggested a Friday club run. Why not, Thursday is the new Friday now, so Friday must be the weekend, eh?.

You may have seen Mick Stanford's post on a Ride Leader course in September...here's the link

It would be great if we can fill these three slots quickly and really provide the bridge for people new to riding up to club runs, and wherever their cycling desires take them. Don't leave this for someone else, get your name down and help out...we all started somewhere.

...and finally, it's less than two weeks till the Beacon track championships, so please let Adrian know if you're going along, or even if you're not going along so we can plan the day accordingly.

Have a good week, and God Save the (put whoever you want in here)...I'll settle for the Queen

Phil
