Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 26th June

WEEKLY UPDATE:

So where to start this week! I think Cedric, Naomi, Keith and Ian need top billing for their magical journey to their first 300kms ride (Keith is well versed at this distance but great to see him back riding these distances)...Cedric needs a special mention, as he had the idea he wanted to do this months ago, and built up to this ride over the course of the Spring in a textbook attempt at a 300kms ride... and good to hear of Ced and Naomi riding to Selly Oak and back at 01:30 in the morning just to get the ride to 200miles! As Roy Castle sang about...Dedication's what you need! Great work all, and we look forward to your next adventure.

Also kudos to the Beacon guys out at the Dragon Ride Sportive in South Wales, Amarjit (who is riding brilliantly at the moment) and Richard Cole on the 295kms ride and Stuart Jones also breaking his longest-ever-ride record out on the 214kms ride...Fabulous work all.

...and finally in the looking back section, great to see Huan Dong making his racing debut at Darley Moor on Saturday, and take a look at Kyle's write-up either on the MB or on our FB page.

...and a good weekend of club runs, despite the write-off weather on Saturday, Sunday was a bumper day, so thanks to Matt Hale, James Bendle, Pete Norman, Cedric of course and Mick Stanford who led an official BC led ride, as well as offering help as Dr Bike at a school fete on Saturday.

This week coming sees the Handicap 20mile TT from Shell Ford on Wednesday and the Track Championships at Halesowen on Saturday. Disappointingly, there are only a low number of adult entries for the Track Championship, so we're debating about what to do this year...so watch this space. As we said before, there does seem to be drop off in people riding organised events everywhere (it's not just us!!), which is why we have cancelled some of our open TT's, but it would be sad if this trend continues, so we'll continue to organise what we feel gets a good response, and again, anything you can do to participate or encourage others to do so is welcome.

Rides are available on Tuesday, Wednesday TT, Tardebigge Thursday and all next weekend, so have a rest day Monday, enjoy your custard tart, iron your shorts ready for more fun when you next get on your bike.

Next weekend also sees the Touring weekend down to the Welsh borders… Helen Colson and Si Woodward are leading so why not go along and enjoy the Glastonbury experience but without the music! It looks another great adventure!

Don't forget, if you've ridden somewhere new, broke a personal record, raced, TT'ed or even comically fallen off whilst being video'ed, then let me know.

Have a great week.

Phil
