WEEKLY UPDATE:
Triathlon!! So only one place to start this week...huge congratulations to Anne Hughes who has again become the National Champion in her age group in Sprint Triathlon. The Hughes' do us proud, and it's great to see Anne on the top strep of the podium once again!!
...and onto bikes without the running and swimming bit... A full set of A, B, C and D rides went out at the weekend, and again big thanks to the leaders for stepping forward, namely Nick Shenton, Matt Hale, Cedric Gioan and Paul Balfe...yes, familiar names leading again, which is great and we thank them, but why not give the regulars a week's rest and volunteer to lead yourself just once this summer. Just post a route and a welcoming sentence and you'll soon be getting responses.
Also, the Tuesday rides are getting very popular with well over 20 people riding last week, so choose your speed and get involved....and finally in the looking back, it was great to see a Touring weekend back. Thanks to Helen Colson and Simon Woodward for leading an overnighter down to the Wye Valley, and hope to see some pictures of the weekend on FB soon.
Disappointing to see that last week's TT had to be postponed due to illness, but they'll be back soon enough, and also disappointing that even though we had to cancel the adult track championships, the academy event also had to be postponed late on because of a storm which made the track dangerous...this has been rescheduled for September so keep your eyes out for more info.
July is always a busy month, and again we have a lot planned. The BSCA Regional Grass Track Championships are on Saturday July 9th, with helpers still needed. Please help out if you can, and more info on the event is here:

There is also the infamous Beacon Kidderminster Killer Audax on Saturday 23rd July, organised by Dr Philip Whiteman, this is a devious route that is deceptively flat . I was chatting to a few guys yesterday at the cafe and they were wavering on whether to enter...but there are only a handful of entries left, and hence better not leave it too late.
...and there's another Beacon Social on Friday 15th July, where you can see people in normal clothes rather than lycra, perhaps for the first time in your life.
So, as usual, there is loads going on, so keep in touch with the MB at least weekly, get the Beacon FB page as one of your favourites as all these events are on one or other of these media...perhaps one day, it'll all move over to Tik Tok, Bebo or MySpace (!), but until then, that's all you need to know.
Enjoy the new month and ride your bike... no one ever says on their death bed "oh, I wish I'd spent more time on my allotment."
