C+ ride. 200k/124 miles to Cheltenham. Sunday 10th July. 7:30 am departure
Was originally planned for Sunday 17th. Been asked to move so publishing ride early for others interested to possibly have a chance to rearrange their agenda.
For those who haven't had the chance yet to do one, or for those who want to put another one under their belt, I'll lead another 200k this year.
Destination Cheltenham:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35686060
200k/124mi
Expected average speed 13 - 14mph.
Meet at the BH for a 7:30 am departure.
Two options for stops:
1 café stop midway in Cheltenham (in Montpellier Gardens http://www.inthepark.co.uk/)
or
2 stops, first in Tewksbury and second in Evesham
depending on what the majority prefers
There will also be many smaller roadside stops for cereal/chocolate bars/gels/ice creams/EPO/Nandrolone (so bring your ammunitions).
Meeting at the BH for a 7:30 departure. Return ETA 17:00 approx depending on pace and length of stop(s).
Ced. G.
Mariana Sorrill
Keith Adcock
Mark Stammers
Will Woodhouse
Ian Gannon
NB1: Please note that due to medical reasons I use a handle-bar extender, a bit like TT-bars. I use this to relief the pain of NHS diagnosed trapped nerves in my wrists and elbow. I do NOT use these to ride like a TT racer, to draft behind others or similar performance seeking stunts.
Every bike ride, be it commute, ride alone or in group, entails its share of risks (bad road surface, motorised traffic, natural elements, our or other riders' mistakes or inattentions...). This is common knowledge and we all ride at our own risk. Nevertheless if my use of this extender this makes you feel uncomfortable, please do not join my rides.
NB2: Please also note that due to a combination of overloaded bike, love handles and betablockers, I am slow going uphill. Do not expect Alps climbing performance from me. So do not be surprised if you'll probably all overtake me during climbs. We'll regroup at the top and carry on from there.

Sorry Ced, I'm going to have to drop out. I now need to be back home Sunday by 2.30 latest.

No way I could ride that fast, it's actually likely to be a rideRich_Chaplin wrote: ↑06 Jul 2022 21:19Sorry Ced, I'm going to have to drop out. I now need to be back home Sunday by 2.30 latest.
Looks like it's going to have to be 'third time lucky'.

Yeah in ok with that it will be super hot Sunday

As per unanimous decision by text in the background start time now brought forward to 7:30.
But I am afraid that this is not going to make the ride faster

Nice ride. Decided to push quite fast at the start while the weather was still nice. Didn't suffice and the afternoon heat in our last 2 hours melted our average from 16mph+ to a bit over 15.
Took part:
Keith Adcock
Ian Gannon
Ced. G.(L)
Mariana Sorrill
Will Woodhouse
Well, at least this hot weather prompted us to enjoy several ice-creams

Brilliant ride Cedric. Probably wasn’t up to the mileage today as I have done much over 50k for a couple of months but glad I made it.
