Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 10th July

Post by WorcsPhil » 04 Jul 2022 16:52

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Does this week offer a new Beacon record in that club runs have been posted for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday...we really are the Craig David of Cycling clubs, perhaps with a 'chilled on Sunday' sort of vibe. So there's no excuse for not going out this week in what looks a week of fine weather. So don your best tweed trousers and cycling clips and we'll see you out on the road... There are local rides, a 200kms C+ ride planned thanks to Cedric, and even a monster ride to Aberystwyth and back (360kms) thanks to Paul J so don't tell me that club runs are not for you, and if they're not, suggest some that are (I appreciate that this will be my sentence that is the most ignored this week)

This Saturday also sees a major Beacon organised event, the Regional Grass Track racing Day at Queensbridge School in Moseley for the junior riders. Please go along to support and/or help out, details are available on the MB and on FaceBook.

...and there's also a Beacon Time this week, the Club 10mile championships, details and entries are here:

Oh, and the little matter of John Williams and Mick Stanford entered and started the LEJOG in 5 days Audax yesterday and are hurtling north as we speak...unfortunately Mick has had to abandon due to a shoulder injury (see Mick's Facebook post), but John is still going strong. If all goes well, he will be in John O'Groats on Thursday...Fantastic stuff as usual, John

So what happened last week...There was a range of club runs including an Intro Ride so thanks as usual to the leaders, Mariana, Cedric, Matt Hale and Chris Yan...and you may have noticed that Mariana and Cedric are locked in a Brazil v France blockbuster to see who wins the club run championships this year...it's great to see and also gives the rest of us a chance to join their rides every week...so sign up and see who comes out of top of the Zidane v Zico battle.

Seriously though, if you haven't joined in on a club run, or rode a Time Trial then perhaps this is the week to get back and do it.

Have a great week

Phil
