Friday 22nd July. 10:00am. 47miles C ride to Alcester. Arden café
With some family visiting from the continent I am unlikely to be as flexible as usual to lead rides and probably won't be able to lead this week-end.
So will do a shorter ride Friday morning.
Having missed them by just a few minutes 2 weeks ago, I have a hardened desire to go and sample a nice big sandwich from the Arden Café in Alcester:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35705868
75km / 47 miles @ approx 13 mph
If any volunteers, join me at the BH for a 10:00 departure.

Hopefully if the weather is as nice as 2 weeks ago, it will be a lovely stroll in the countryside:

Hi Paul, if Mariana absolutely wants it to be a blast I would be more than happy to notch it down a bit to have the pleasure to have you with us.
Last time I did it it was just above 13 mph (https://www.strava.com/activities/7425005380), wouldn't mind doing the same again.

OK, Thanks. We might do a hybrid ride. Slow to the café all together and then back faster for you and I. Others who might still join could then decide to come back faster with us or slower with Paul.Mariana278 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2022 12:02Hi guys

Ok Guys & Ladies
If Mariana & Ced happy to ride at my pace (20k Ave speed) to the cafe then let's all meet at BH
Or
I can mert D Cole at Lai Ling, old tram station opposite Hare & Hounds at 8-45 and Ced & M either catch us up or we see them at cafe
Or
we all ride to cafe together them Ced & M blast back and if DC wants to ride back with me no problem or DC can go with Ced & M after cafe and I have no problem riding back on my own

Adrian and Kaye would be welcome of course.
Forecast for tomorrow morning is not very exciting, i.e. quite wet. David S. indicated his wish to give it a pass. As we all know Paul is the same type of guys... and I must admit that rinsing my bike and feet non-stop with splash from underneath whilst I'am being soaked from above is not really my idea of fun.
Paul, Mariana and myself would be OK with a start at 11 (when the rain is forcasted to have stopped), Would you Dave and David be OK with that ?
Let's assess the weather early tomorrow and see

I'm ok with an 11.00 start tomorrow - I'll keep my eye on the message board. I'll let Kay and Adrian know

Refreshed forecast is better (I'd still advise overshoes) but I guess we'll only for sure when looking out the window tomorrow morning

Re: Friday 22nd July. 10am. 47miles C ride to Alcester. Arden café
Morning folks.
Road and garden look wet from the night rain but sky is dry. Forcats do not all agree. They say it's raining now and will stop by 11 when looking outside in Northfield right now is not raining. 2 out of 4 sources I checked say rain would resume again in the middle of the afternoon. So i propose a 10am meet/start at the BH. Should hopefully get us in the 'nice' window this morning. Unless raining just before 10 or forcasts drastically change by then, (I would then post further cancellation here) lets meet at 10am.
Overshoes advised and several layers (heatwave no longer there in case you have not noticed)

Glad we managed to avoid the rain, got actually nicely 20º warm in the end.
Impressed we managed to attract a group of 5 on a Friday morning.
Promise, next ride will stop in a real posh café where you'll all be able to satisfy your craving for avocado cream with baby spinach and herbs of the garden on sourdough bread and salted caramel macchiato with gluten free marshmallow !
