Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 10th/11th of September

WEEKLY UPDATE:

September means that for some strange reason, the cyclists of our fair nation start to move away from cycling on roads and start to ride on grass, gravel, mud, snow, and rubble.... yes, it was the weekend of the Hell of the North (Cotswolds) from Winchcombe which saw lots of Beacon guys riding this event...congrats to all who rode.

But wait, it was also the start of the WMCCL... lots of letters there, and they stand for West Midlands Cyclo Cross league, with the first event in Shrewsbury...Only two Beacon riders for this event, namely Nic Vipond and Matt Russell...well done both and hopefully there will be more at the next event. Also, we are hoping to organise a round of the WMCCL (you know what it means now, eh) in December, but we're worried whether we can drum up the necessary support. Prove us wrong!

Back on the road, it was great to see an excellent multi-club turn-up at our 20mile handicap championships last Wednesday and huge congratulations to John Hitchcock who rolled back the years and powered round in an excellent 52mins... great ride John and also all the other riders.... it's the hill climb championships in a couple of weeks, the last TT of the year so why not have a go... it's only 3minutes of pain after all.

Only 3 club rides at the weekend, so thanks for George Barker for leading the Intro ride, and to Cedric and James Bendle for other rides...we've got a bit sketchy recently, in that it would be great if we had an A, B and C going out every week, so that people can always rely on a good bike ride at the weekend, so if you ride regularly, please volunteer early in the week if you can lead a ride. I still have an action to get a quick survey out to understand peoples barriers to leading and I hope this will go out shortly.

What else is happening this week...well the Winter kit order is available...see Neil's post in the Members' area of the message board, but be quick, as it closes again on the 12th September...next Monday!!!!!!!...there are all sorts of goodies available to buy.

...and the final big shout out is for the rearranged Beacon Track Championships which is now scheduled for Saturday 24th September...please see the thread in the racing section of the message board and again, come and have a go, you may not have done it before so unleash your inner Laura Kenny

So, plenty going on....but get your name down to lead a club run... I know who you are! (Is that creepy enough?)

Phil
