WEEKLY UPDATE:
So, after everyone was out on club runs last Sunday after the hill climb, a much more muted presence this week. Thanks to Pete Norman and Cedric, we had two very different C runs, and Mick Stanford led a BC Guided ride. So, we had no A or B ride this week for the first time this season.
Now, humans are social animals, and psychologists have proved that primates go ever so slightly mad if they are denied company and made to perform all tasks solo...so Strava tells us that many club runners are also going solo on Sundays , and hastening their own journey towards feelings of desperation and solitude. Go to a doctor, they have a simple remedy and will tell you.... 'If no one else has come forward, volunteer to lead a Sunday ride', they'll say, 'the consequences of not doing so will be catastrophic, you'll ride alone forever and brood on the petty minutiae of your own problems...and bacon is better than tramadol for calming you down'. So, you know what to do...
The 2021/2022 club run season finishes after tomorrow's Tuesday bash, and the scores will be published later this week, so look out for that.
Plenty else going on at the weekend, it was the British Gravel Championships in Bury St Edmonds as well as the next round of the WM Cross season, each of which had Beacon riders competing, but at the time of writing, I don't have any idea of our Beacon results of this...how did you get on? Posts on here or on FB are always welcome!
...and so, to the future...and something for the short, medium and long term for you to cogitate on.
Short term: It's the South Salopian 200kms Audax this coming Saturday (1st October), so last chance to get your entry in. If not riding, we have plenty of volunteers already signed up to help at the HQ in Belbroughton, take a look on the MB to see if you can help...
Medium term: Saturday 19th November sees the Beacon Awards night and dinner. You should all have received an email inviting you to this, and other invites are on the MB and on FB. Save us coming round to your house and slapping you round the chops with a wet haddock, you should now be aware of it! It's at Kings Norton Golf Club again, so support your club and get down there to enjoy the free nosh after you pay for your ticket...
Long Term: Take a look at the Members' Page on the Beacon message board (you'll need to login)...here you'll find that George is proposing a great looking trip to Scotland next year to watch the Cycling World Championships, which yes, next August are in Scotland. He has sourced some great looking accommodation, so take a goosey and sign up, it could be a great week for roadies and gravellers alike.
That's it for this week...don't be a stranger, don't ride solo every week like some sort of cycling Julian Assange, spread your wings, talk and squawk to the rest of us. You'll feel better for it....

Hello Phil and All
Unfortunately, people have now missed the boat for the South Salopian. It is now full and I am not accepting any more entries. Thankfully, entrants to this audax will not need to take up Phil's suggestion to start taking the medicine as it will be a great social affair with little opportunity to ride 'Billy, no mates'.
Regards
Philip

Are there still plans for a club run this evening?
