Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 3rd and 4th of December

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Every so often, someone suggests a club run, a seemingly ordinary club run, and yet attendance takes off! It happened with Paul Johnson last month when nearly 20 people piled onto it, and it happened again on Sunday with Simon Woodward's club run to Broomfields. So why does it happen? Experienced leaders, certainly... cafes not too far from home, hhhmmm, we could be onto something there for winter rides, and a natural 'runaway snowball' effect, well whatever, it is , it is great to see, and exemplary ride leading from Simon as usual, splitting the group up into an A and B ride, booking tables for 16 at the cafe, meant that everybody got to ride, and get a space in the cafe... what better way of spending a winter's Sunday morning?

Not only did Si's ride capture the zeitgeist, but there were also excellent rides from Cedric, leading his first BC Guided ride, and Paul Balfe leading a D-ride... thanks to both of them for doing so.

The only club runs this weekend that are encouraged are any BC guided rides and/or the monthly Intro Ride. This is because Beacon are hosting the next round of the WMCCL (Cross) event at Walsall Arboretum on Sunday. We are putting a lot of effort into running this, and volunteers are there setting up the course, marshalling and signing on, so why not give something back and come along either as an extra pair of hands or simply to watch...it'll be my first experience of watching Cross, so why not make it yours, and cheer on the Beacon members riding, including our youngest trophy winner of course, Matt Russell!

Sign up on the thread below this one if you can help....

Don't forget, it is the Beacon AGM a week on Thursday (8th December) at 18:30 at Hillscourt...this will be a hybrid meeting, i.e. people attending in person will be very welcome and there is also a dial-in option for those who can't make it. More details next week...

Keep happy

Phil
