CANCELLED !!! Sunday 18th December - Guided Ride to Earlswood Lakes 28miles at D Ride Pace 9.00am start

Post by Rich_Chaplin » 12 Dec 2022 11:28

Unfortunately the weather has not improved enough for a guided ride to take place. Freezing temps overnight and the risk of sleet in the morning will make the ride too risky 🙁
Everything crossed for the weather warming up by the weekend!!!

This coming Sunday I will be leading the weekly Guided Ride to Earlswood Lakes and the Craft Centre Cafe, 9.00am start from The Black Horse car park, Northfield.
This is a perfect ride for riders wishing to try out the club or if you just fancy a nice steady, relaxed and chatty ride out.
Pace should be between 10 and 12mph but will be to the slowest rider, no one is left behind. The group will stay together so you will be looked after throughout.
We will be stopping at Earlswood Craft Centre Cafe at 18 miles to refuel.

Route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38613705

You can read more and book your place on the event page on Lets Ride below or reply here with your name.

Hi Sarah, great if you can make it. I've added you to the list. Hoping weather allows the ride to go ahead.

Looks like it's going to be the last ever 'cyclist breakfast' there if Paul's news are correct

They have ceased trading sadly due to energy costs

That is a real shame.

If the ride goes ahead (forecast not looking promising at the moment  ) then we can easily divert to Espresso Farm at Umberslade Farm Park.

According to Paul's post, they're going to be open until Christmas Eve, so it sounds like you might be OK for one last ride there this weekend.

The café is due to be open but if it is closed when you arrive then backtrack past the lakes to the Resevoir Pub. I use it as a good alternative when cold or wet as it is nice and warm, and a decent breaky

Tomorrow will be a difficult day for riding. Be mindful that if the rain starts falling on to sub zero roads the result will be very precarious conditions under-wheel. Of interest is that many of our club are meeting up at the Swan at Chaddesley Corbett at 12 for the annual bike fest. Usually pretty packed with several local clubs all crowded together. May see you there but I'm getting a lift home after. (For more than one reason)!
