Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 24th and 25th of December

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Commiserations to Cedric over the World Cup final result, but great to see Messi lift the trophy that his mercurial talents deserve! Talking of mercurial talents...

A frustrating last day of cold and icy weather would normally mean a limited turn-out at the Swan at Chaddesley for Christmas drinks, but where there is a will, there's a way, and in this case, where there are wide tyres, compliant frames and pressures set lower than normal to maximise grip in icy conditions, there's a way. :D In other words, there was still a decent turn out at the pub and well done to all who did make it out. Also, the usual big thanks to Alan Weaver for organising the Beacon Zwift rides...if you've got a smart trainer, why not join them?

Short update this week as it's Christmas next Sunday and suspect that many of you will be unwrapping your new Santa bikes, putting on your stabilisers and dashing out into the park with your mates to show them off....oops I seem to have gone back 40 years to an altogether more innocent time, a time of Warninks Advocaat, chocolate hazelnuts and the Two Ronnies Christmas special (always preferred them over Morecambe and Wise - controversial, I know!!)...anyway, whether you do or don't get a new bike, we hope you have a lovely Christmas and power off those sprouts (no doubt fried with crushed chestnuts, garam masala and slices of finest pancetta).

Oh, and if you're looking for a perfect Christmas present, or even a secret Santa with a £10 limit, what better thing to ask for than an entry into the Beacon Snowdrop or Sunrise Audax, next February, we've sailed past 100 entries now so get in quick...ask your nearest and dearest for an entry for Christmas, it's far nicer than yet another pair of stripey socks.

Enjoy your celebrations and speak next week.

Phil

Many thanks for your sympathy Phil.
Fortunately it was not too difficult to get over it as:
1) I am not a hardcore football fan
2) both teams played well and deserved to win
3) 2022 was a great year for French sportsmen. Some other valuable and sought after trophy have been coming home!
