Sunday 19th March @ 9:15 - B Ride to Kenilworth
I'll lead a B ride to Kenilworth too, leaving the Black Horse at 9:15 promptly.
Coffee stop in the middle on Kenilworth High Street (Coffee on the corner, Arden's café or Costa). Bike lock recommended.
Here is the route:
https://ridewithgps.com/trips/115572155
This is a relatively flat route of 55 miles (only about 1600 feet of climbing). It includes a stretch on the Kenilworth Greenway - this has a good surface and is perfectly ok on a road bike.
On the ride:
Patrick Chen
Laurence Cooley
Phil Elwell
Phil Gameson (leading)
Kyle Gattier
Cai Lyons
Adrian Ravenscroft
Jon Sadler (as far as cafe)
Mark Stammers
Simon Woodward
DNS:
Richard Leaper
Alan Weaver
Apologies for the problem finding the cafe - I knew it was just off the high street, but had trouble spotting the alley way.
And then there was the Kenilworth Greenway. Sustrans shows this as extending all the way to Berkswell station (it follows a disused railway), but I knew that it finished before that. It appears that HS2 has decided to use part of this route, with a (perfectly good) temporary path part way.
However, this left us with over 500 metres across fields!
Everybody seemed up for the adventure, though I would not plan such an outing.

Hi Phil,
Can you put me down please.
I'm not sure if I've missed a post but it looks like the C are going to Kenilworth on Saturday?

For info, we didn't go to any of the café planned. Ended up going to 'the rocking horse coffee shop' next to Arden's café as we had only one café lock for all and it was the best café to keep an eye on our steeds while inside. The home made scone was top (but no clotted cream, only butter ) and the Mocha was very well balanced too between coffee and chocolate. The rest looked like properly home made and not those industrial cake you get in too many places now.
