Been a bit behind the original plan to do a 300km this year so time to up the game a bit. I will be doing an imperial next Saturday.
A bit of a hill sandwich: two flat bits with a few nice juicy hills in the middle!!

We'll target 14mph as overall average speed, but more likely that we'll only achieve 13 as I fear these hills will put a dent in our stats (I'll spin furiously rather that blow my ticker up)
There'll be a first stop at 60km (38 miles) at Herbies coffee house or Coffee#1 on the abbaye plaza in Evesham
followed by
- a second stop in Katie's in Chipping Camden at 93k and possibly some convenience store later on in the ride
- or a short stop at the convenience store at 112km in Mickelton (and possibly another one closer to the finish)
we'll play it by ear, as per the group's need and wishes but rest assure we'll rest a bit in places and you won't starve to death.
If this ride sounds like fun to you , let's meet at the BH for a 8:30am departure. ETA for return 18h00

NB1: Please note that due to medical reasons I use a handle-bar extender, a bit like TT-bars. I use this to relief the pain of NHS diagnosed trapped nerves in my wrists and elbows. I do NOT use these to ride like a TT racer, to draft behind others or similar performance seeking stunts.
Every bike ride, be it commute, ride alone or in group, entails its share of risks (bad road surface, motorised traffic, natural elements, our or other riders' mistakes or inattentions...). This is common knowledge and we all ride at our own risk. Nevertheless if my use of this extender, despite sanctioned by the BRCC committee, makes you feel uncomfortable, please do not join my rides.
NB2: Please also note that due to a combination of overloaded bike and betablockers, I am slow going uphill. Do not expect Alps climbing performance from me. So do not be surprised if you'll probably all overtake me during climbs. We'll regroup at the top and carry on from there.

With Ian and Will not available on this Saturday and no other volunteer joining this challenging ride we ended up just 2:

Despite the favorable weather forecast we ended up freezing for the first couple of hours so improvised an impromptu stop at Broadacres to warm our fingers around a nice cup of hot choc (and to swallow the first sandwich of a long series that day for Ansel ).
Being such a small group gave us a little more freedom so we ended up having more short little stops here and there rather than fewer longer ones we would otherwise have had. This is maybe what kept our energy level high despite all the hills of the route. Second half of the afternoon finally got sunny so we decided to carry on for a bit longer than planned.
One of these days were you just want to keep cycling.
A great ride, just not very popular this time
