Sunday 21st May Meriden Memorial Service. C run, 64 miles. 8:45 start - RIDE FULL
Never attended the Meriden Cyclist Memorial service. Like the idea to bringing a few more cyclists there for the ceremony, so will be leading a C ride there this coming Sunday.
Route will be https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42890969 with a target average speed of 14mph.
Meet at the BH for an 8:45 start to make it to Meriden in time for the ceremony (11:00). Highly advised to take a café lock with you as I don't know what the provisions are for bike storage during the ceremony.
Dave Cox said there was a tea served in the Village Hall afterwards. We could have a sip while chatting a bit with other cyclists but even if there are a few biscuits, I'd advise against us raiding them like locusts in Egypt to avoid giving the Beacon bad press. So a stop for proper food is planned at the Lavender fisheries (6 miles further), probably around noon/12:30 depending on how long the ceremony goes for (if you can't wait that long and are likely to collapse from hunger during the ceremony, take a couple of snack bars with you).

Adrian Low
Ansel Nguyen
James Perrett

NB1: Please note that due to medical reasons I use a handle-bar extender, a bit like TT-bars. I use this to relief the pain of NHS diagnosed trapped nerves in my wrists and elbows. I do NOT use these to ride like a TT racer, to draft behind others or similar performance seeking stunts.
Every bike ride, be it commute, ride alone or in group, entails its share of risks (bad road surface, motorised traffic, natural elements, our or other riders' mistakes or inattentions...). This is common knowledge and we all ride at our own risk. Nevertheless if my use of this extender, despite sanctioned by the BRCC committee, makes you feel uncomfortable, please do not join my rides.
NB2: Please also note that due to a combination of overloaded tool bag and betablockers, I am slow going uphill. Do not expect Alps climbing performance from me. So do not be surprised if you'll probably all overtake me during climbs. We'll regroup at the top and carry on from there.
Looking for a café for a stop in one of your ride? Why not use Mark's Magic Map to select a cyclist vetted place close to your route?.

Ced G (L)
Leigh Hopkins
Adrian McHugh

Mariana, Ansel and James had to be back home not too late so they skipped the stop at the village hall and went straight back
Adrian went back with the D group
