Sunday 23th. C paced 80 miles to Apple tree kitchen. 8:30 am departure

Post by CeGi » 19 Jul 2023 22:16

Saw the route to the Apple tree kitchen Matt used in May and thought I'd fancy going there for a change and testing something new:
https://www.theappletreekitchen.co.uk/

Route's been flattened and lengthened to suit my tastes better: 128km / 80m:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43704142
Average speed target: 14 mph

So for those of you whom Saturday's Kidderminster killer was too big of a challenge for but who still fancy a decent ride, do come and meet at the BH at 8:30 for departure as soon as all there.
Return back in Northfield likely to be around 16:00 depending on speed and length of stop.

Ced G (L)
Ansel NGuyen
Daniel Spooner

NB1: Please note that due to medical reasons I use a handle-bar extender, a bit like TT-bars. I use this to relief the pain of NHS diagnosed trapped nerves in my wrists and elbows. I do NOT use these to ride like a TT racer, to draft behind others or similar performance seeking stunts.
Every bike ride, be it commute, ride alone or in group, entails its share of risks (bad road surface, motorised traffic, natural elements, our or other riders' mistakes or inattentions...). This is common knowledge and we all ride at our own risk. Nevertheless if my use of this extender, despite sanctioned by the BRCC committee, makes you feel uncomfortable, please do not join my rides.

NB2: Please also note that due to a combination of overloaded tool bag and betablockers, I am slow going uphill. Do not expect Alps climbing performance from me. So do not be surprised if you'll probably all overtake me during climbs. We'll regroup at the top and carry on from there.

Looking for a café for a stop in one of your ride? Why not use Mark's Magic Map to select a cyclist vetted place close to your route?.

The three intended riders were there:
Ced G (L)
Ansel NGuyen
Daniel Spooner

Lots of hills (only now when cooled down do my legs finally feel what we did)
Lots of cakes
Lots of fun
Daniel didn't need us at all to break the 100km barrier and much more. Was a natural. Well done. Ansel and I have both forecasted that next week he's in the A ride!
Finally a celebration with a long anticipated pint.
What's not to like in days like that.
Fantastic day in the saddle greatly helped by the weather so much more clement than yesterday
