Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of September

Post by WorcsPhil » 29 Aug 2023 16:16

WEEKLY UPDATE:

A day late this week, but no matter as it seems that we are between events at the moment...the big summer races and rides have gone, and the cross riders and hillclimbers are yet to oil their chains on those...so top kudos this week goes to Karl Walton and Phil Walker, who rode from Birmingham to Bournemouth and back again late last week, a pleasant 600kms ride, which all but guarantees that we might have a new Audax champion this year!

I love this time of year, people reflecting on their season and getting excited to plan rides, tours or adventures next year...there are already plans for a Beacon trip out to the Mallorca over the 312 weekend, and a return of the Weston and back next Summer, with more details on each to follow... Please let me know of your adventures, or planned adventures, don't be a secret squirrel, the worst you will get is the adulation of your fellow rides.

Thanks as usual to the club run leaders, namely Stuart Jones, Mariana and Cedric...thanks so much for leading again, you already have the adulation of your fellow rider.

So what's in the pipeline for September? Well, I can heartily recommend you do the following triathlon:

- Swim to the Beacon track night at Stourport on Friday 15th September, organised by Stuart Jones;
- Cycle to the next Beacon social evening (food and drink) on Friday 22nd September, organised by Nick Shenton; and
- Run to the next Beacon Audax, the Beyond the Dyke Audax on Saturday 30th September, organised by Dr Philip Whiteman...volunteers wanted at the HQ for various jobs.

All details of these three events are on the Beacon Facebook page and/or the Beacon message board...who says we don't do things for you?

Have a great week and get that club run organised that you keep promising yourself that you will do!

Phil

As Phil mentions, Beyond the Dyke is coming up. You can pretend that you are King Offa by entering here https://audax.uk/event-details/8945
