FINAL CLUB RUN POINTS FOR 2022/2023 SEASON

Hi all, so here's the final scores of the 2022/23 club run season that runs from 1st October 2022 to 30th September 2023. All hail our gallic hero Cedric Gioan for retaining the trophy and a fantastic 108 points. He was pushed hard this year by Mick Stanford and Paul Balfe who both led 23 rides in the year. In fact 4 of the top 5 all went on the BC Ride Leaders course, and it's great to see them all making the most of that by leading numerous times. Top kudos also has to go to Mariana Sorrill who also led 15 times, fantastic work, Mariana.

Some other stats for your delectation:

- There were a total of 1,252 club riders over the 52 weeks of the year at an average a smidge over 24 riders per week;
- There were four bad weather weeks with no club riders out, so excluding those, the average per week was 26 riders;
- 180 people rode at least one club run, and 131 of those rode more than once;
- 28 of the 180 riders were female, so again, this represents just 16% of all riders, the same as last year and reflects almost exactly the national figures...it would still be great to get this to 25%+
- Just 35 people led a ride this season, and 75% of all the rides were led by just 9 riders.

This might point to a re-think in who is willing to lead, what training may be required and how we get more leaders, say 20-25 regular leaders rather than the 9 or 10 who currently lead because no else does. That has to be our target for next year and discussions have already begun on how we increase leader numbers and maybe change our approach to Sunday riding. As always, I'd love to hear your views, and happy to see them posted below or to me directly if you prefer.
