The club's Ride with GPS account has a ready-made 74km (46mi) route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45310150
That's a little shorter than I would usually plan for a club run. Do participants fancy doing the route 'as-is', or shall I tweak it slightly to get it up above 80km/50mi?

Re: C run 24 March2024 - Broad Acres Fishery
George, can you add me please.
Personally, I prefer a longer ride of 50 miles however on the original route as the cafe is at 34 miles from the start (38 miles on the second suggestion) this will take at 2+ hours at C ride pace to reach the cafe, potentially overshooting the proposed arrival time.

Yes, the arrival time issue was one of the things I was thinking about too. Maybe what I'll do is tweak the route myself so that we do 80km-ish, but with the café pretty much right in the middle. If we set off promptly at 09:15 and do 40km out, 22.8kph will get us there by 11:00.
Re: C run 24 March2024 - Broad Acres Fishery
Just in case anyone hasn't read the general post about the Big Coffee Stop series:
The café have asked us NOT to order scrambled eggs. My previous experience is also that, although they will take cards, they prefer people to pay cash.

Re: C run 24 March2024 - Broad Acres Fishery
I have now edited the top post to include the route: 81km with the café at 40km. Plenty of opportunities for anyone who need to be back early to clip off on the return leg.

Hey Alexio and Jason I’ll lead a second group, probably a little slower than George!
I’ll post something in a bit and put your names down!
Hey George I’ll drop into leading another group well behind you! Pete

Many thanks to everyone for your company today. I had a great time, and hope you did too.
Everything went broadly to plan, and we had a good ride in cool and breezy but agreeable weather. The only thing that I would do differently in hindsight is coordinate the departure from the café a little better; we briefly found ourselves unintentionally riding as a single unified C group, swelled by a few joiners from other outward groups. For my personal liking, that group was a little too big and slightly disordered. Fortunately, a natural split occurred around Inkberrow, enabling two more coherent groups to reform. Lesson for the future is that we need to organise departure from the café along the same lines as departure from the BH.
Actual roll call for the outward leg:
1. George Barker (L)
2. Naomi Bell
3. Leigh Hopkins
4. Andy McGrath
5. Mariana Sorrill
6. Si Walker
We were joined at the café by Dave Hughes and John Hitchcock.
The return group had a slightly different make-up, but I assume that the joiners are already accounted for on the roll calls of the groups they rode out with.

No problem, Mariana. Everyone peeled off in ones and twos as we entered Brum, and you'd already told us that you might continue back at your own pace. Thanks for coming.Mariana278 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024 22:17Thanks for leading George
