Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 20th and 21st of April

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Almost a full house of club runs this week, but Neil Lynch's A-Ride plans went for a ball of chalk with many riders riding elsewhere this weekend, but thanks to Neil anyway, as well as George Lazenby, Mariana Sorrill and Paul Balfe for leading rides of quiet excellence.

What a weekend for riding long! There were amazingly ELEVEN Beacon guys riding 200kms+ rides this weekend, with 5 out on Sunday and a multitude on Saturday, with a big tip of a hat to Richard Greer for riding the mountainous Cambrian Audax on Saturday at a rip-roaring speed, the top kudos this week goes the four guys who rode the 'To the Chapel' 316kms audax on Saturday, which included a 140kms section into a 20mph headwind all the way back! Those were, Mick Stanford, Phil Walker, Karl Walton and John Williams - take a bow for a great ride...

It was also the Beacon 20mile TT on Saturday which was well attended with riders from many clubs... Ed Moss put in a great time but unfortunately missed his start time, so it didn't count officially, but we all know what you did, Ed! Thanks as always to Simon Woodward, Dave Cole and the other helpers for making this event happen. Talking of Time Trials, it is the Little Mountain Time Trial this coming Saturday, therefore there are NO CLUB RUNS ON SUNDAY, as this LMTT is Beacon's flagship event. Come along and watch/support if you're not riding or volunteering, it's a great morning out...

So what else has been happening? Well, another notable ride included Stuart Jones' Builth Wells marathon MTB event on Sunday, which looked fab, and finally, let's all send our best wishes to Louise Crowley who unfortunately crashed at Halesowen Track on Thursday evening and suffered a broken collarbone and a couple of ribs as well as other cuts and abrasions. Get well soon, Louise!

Enjoy your week

Phil
