100 Mile C Run - 12th July 2015

Post by CakeStop » 18 Mar 2015 23:09

Similar or same route as last year as this seemed to be quite agreeable (but I don't think it would work as well in the other direction) apart from this time hopefully nobody will fake a mechanical to discourage me from descending Weatheroak Hill at the end

Expect a distinct lack of any serious pre-pub hills, two food stops and a pause for ice-cream with a gentle pace meaning we'll be out until early evening.

Aaaaargh, tough decision to make here!

I really enjoyed this ride last year and would love to do it again, but this is my birthday.. I may end up postponing the birthday celebrations......! :D

I should be there Steve, but will have to see how I'm going. don't know why but am really struggling at the moment. A couple of rides last week averaged just about 11mph, and had to walk up Weatheroak !!

For anyone who finds the prospect of 100m a little daunting, well this is a club run in the true sense of the word. As Dave said the miles really do slip by. nobody gets left, and we all finish together. The hard bit (for me at least) is when you leave the group after the pub and head home alone. Also, I am possibly the slowest club run rider over the last couple of years, and if I can do it so can you!!

Hi all. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to do this ride now.

I had a pretty bad crash off my mtb a couple of weeks ago which resulted in a nice trip in an ambulance, lots of drugs, and memory loss of the crash! I was very lucky not to break anything and whilst the black eye has now faded, I either pulled or bruised my back between my shoulder blades and it is still painful. I haven't been back on a bike yet, so there's no way I'll be fit enough to ride 100 miles, its also doubtful my back would hold up!

Hope you all have a great day.

Pity about Ride London Helen but I was looking at the forms today and there is a process to transfer to 2016 if you unable to start this year. Good job that you are young!

Sorry to be unhelpful Colin but it really is a ride which will take as long as it takes so if you have a deadline or want to watch the Tour it's not a ride for you. I think last year we were enjoying a pint at the end before 6pm.

Hope you get well soon Helen!

I'm hoping to come on this ride as well but it'll be my first century... The furthest I've gone is about 65 miles on a club ride.

So apologies in advance if I struggle towards the end!
