Unofficial MTB run ...

Paul "overtaking at inappropriate moments" Watkins
Nick "sl...oo...w...mo...over bars" Shenton
James "wot no brakes, or shocks, or grip???" Tate
Ali "fell off on a flat straight bit" Hey
George "belchmonster" Lazenby
Mark "glad to survive" livesnextdoortoNick

Err, so I think everyone crashed except George and me, and James even had a little of the red stuff spurt out. Good fun, cheers guys!

Paul

Worcester C Ride

Post by PeteNorman » 01 Nov 2015 17:00

On the very foggy C ride
Pete Norman (L)
John Deeley
Mark Russell
Dale Finnegan
Leonie Balter
Rob Parker
Dennis Snape
Mark McConkey
Jordan Stevens
David Little (S)
Charles White to Droitwich
Dave Cole to Wychbold
Anne and Dave Hughes not sure where you got off!

Loads of fog, one diversion due to major roadworks, café closed due to water mains burst, so café stop finally at Spetchley, and one mechanical chain break on Copyholt Lane

Well done and welcome to Mark and Leonie on your first c club runs, to Dennis for having the right tool, spare link and gloves, and to Jordan who left Northfield at 10.30 rode the route and finally caught us at 1.30pm at Copyholt Lane breathlessly asking... 'are you the Beacon C Ride?' I have just looked at the flyby on Strava and you were soooo close from Spetchley onwards!

Believe me the countryside views south of Belbroughton are very pleasant

Pete

Pete
Thanks for leading the ride today and sorry I didn't say good bye to you. I was too busy telling Charles I was returning, just in case he wanted come back early as well.

Sounds like a very eventful ride

Wow! With all the drama on both the C run and the mtb ride, I'm almost glad I've got a stinking cold and was confined to the house today..... Almost!
If you’re all about the destination, take a f#€king flight!

Impromptu A ride to Bewdley:
Chris Ashford (L)
Paul Knox
Jessica Rhodes-Jones
Xavier Disley
Matthew Hale
Phil Richards
Andy Curley

A steady ride out to Bewdley that might have been more muddy than the MTB ride in Cannock. It was initially sunny, but quickly turning fog bound as we headed into the valleys.
The original plans was to stop by the riverside cafe for bacon sandwiches, but due to numbers / lack of indoor seating we diverted to the station instead. A good suggestion by Matt as it turned out to be both cheaper and quicker than the riverside. Possible new standard destination in Bewdley?
A hilly ride on return brought a few bits of excitement where Jess decided to abandon the road and took a bit of a slow speed tumble on a muddy road, but the bike was fine, oh and so is Jess;-). Xav also decided to jettison brake blocks for reasons of weight savings, too replace them with twigs - who knew that they worked just as effectively as as topping mechanism?!

Thanks for a good ride out all!

Pete, thanks for leading today, excellent route.
Good to welcome Dale and Leonie (who is officially " one of the boys".....for reasons that will remain strictly confidential to those who participated in today's c run 😉) And hope to see you again soon.
Jordan, great effort in chasing us down, better luck with the alarm clock next week.

Let me know anytime you're interested Tim.

Not too far from the start of this years L'etape du Tour and very close to some of the TdF stages too! I might be booking myself in for that weekend - haven't yet decided though!

Time Megeve - Mont Blanc sportif also runs annually from nearby Megeve

Pete; thanks for the route, the incentive to push, and the ride back into Birmingham. I've just taken a look at that Flyby tool (very nice, I do like data...), if I had known you were already in Droitwich when I got to the Black Horse I might not have chased you at all. I'll definitely work on the alarm clock, anything to make my life easier.
