A Run to Evesham: Sunday, 29th November.

The Metoffice has issued a weather warning for high winds. It is still my plan to lead a club run but a final view on safety will be taken at the BH on Sunday morning. The route may be truncated or taken to Evesham via the most direct route. Speeds may be reduced and the group may need to ride in a single line or echelon as appropriate.

Given the forecast for gusts nearing 50mph early this afternoon, the A run will be truncated to Salwarpe for Churchfields Barn Cafe, meaning a return by 12-1pm. Out via Tardebigge; return via Crutch and Berry Lane.

Not surprisingly, only small turnout at the BH this morning due to the adverse weather.

The A Run went Churchfields Barn Cafe, Salwarpe. Whilst shorter than most A runs, the was within the bounds of comfort given the wind. Out via Tardebigge, Hanbury, Shell, Copcutt and Salwarpe. Returning via Droitwich and Chaddesley Woods. The lanes were mucky in the vicinity of Saleway and worth avoiding.

Churchfields welcome the Beacon. It is a an excellent venue providing good quality food at reasonable prices. The interior is fairly bomb-proof. Cycle racks are provided outside of the cafe.

So after last weeks great turnout of 17 for the c run, today we could only muster 2!!
So Andy Wrightson and myself battled the winds for a short 40 miler (pleased we carried on after questioning our sanity at Rednal), taking in Barnt Green, Alvechurch, Weatheroak, Tanworth inArden, Packwood and Hockley Heath, stopping for our first visit to Wedges bakery. Great selection of breakfast items, hot and cold sandwiches and a mouthwatering cake display. Seating for 20 plus inside makes it a good alternative to Stables cafe for an intro ride destination.
Andy, thanks for sharing the leading duties and providing some shelter from the wind
