Club runs - 7th February

Posted: 01 Feb 2016 08:40
by WorcsPhil
Obviously the wet start to Sunday meant that some riders decided on a duvet day, but there was a healthy turnout of 28 riders (19 on the two-café C-ride) across the three rides nonetheless. This weeks club runs are:

A: Charlecote GC - Ian Taylor
B: Kenilworth - Colin Groves
C: Lavender Hall Fisheries - Steve Smith

Intro Ride: Gary Macintosh as Leader, John Deeley in support

Gary, please take a quick glance at the new guidelines for Intro rides here

Phil I reckon we had 28 riders out on Sunday - not a bad turn out very impressed with the guys who got to Chipping Camden a favourite summer ride for me!

quite right, Dave - I missed the C-riders were split into two cafes!...and I call myself a statto - I will offer my resignation immediately :)

Sundays B run to Kenilworth will be around 58 miles and not particularly hilly.

I don't have many miles in my legs so far this year so the pace will probably sit towards the lower end of the B run guidelines. This might be a good opportunity for any confident C runners who want to try a B run to tag along.

I intend to go to Escape Café. If we're a big group it's worth having another Café up our sleeve to decant into if anyone can recommend one?

Bike locks are probably a good idea.

Colin, have you got a route that you will be taking?

If no link just a rough one will do where you will be passing. Cheers

Andy - it'll be out via Branson's Cross, Ullenhall, Little Alne, Norton Lindsey and we'll scoot into Kenilworth past Hatton.

The shorter return leg will be via Baddesley Clinton, Hockley Heath and Earlswood.

Hope that helps.

B Run

I fancy a crack at a B run, be gentle with me though.

Jordan - you'll probably surprise yourself. 14 - 15 mph average is fairly easily achievable in a group on a flatter route, although the wind might slow us down a bit.

Might be an idea for anyone who hasn't been on a B run before to make themselves known to me at the Blackhorse so as a group we can keep an eye on them.

I'm 50/50 for this weekend but if I can make it I'll also have a cracking on the B run.

If no-one else steps forward, I'll take the A run to Charlecote GC.

You doing a silly 70m detour route Ian or direct ?

Posted: 06 Feb 2016 18:13
by IanT
Usual route out via Stratford, Loxley etc, return usual shorter route via Hampton Lucy. Around 60 miles in total I think.

Not been out with you lot for a few weeks!

Think I'll jump onto the B wagon to spice it up.

Edit

Got called out for work instead... safe riding.

Large group - today's B run attendees:

Colin Groves (L)
Fenella Brown
Kevin Frobisher
Nick Shenton
Neil Orchard
Vince Tenant
Paul Johnson
Andy Craddock
Rob Wade
Ewan (Hamsnett)?
Claire Fudge
Jordan Steven
Phil Gameson
Paul Robinson
Andy Wrightson
Paul Knox
Neil Lynch
Chris Thompson

2 flats but no issues besides considering it was more cyclocross than anything else. Cafe was ok, we all fitted in nicely and considering there were so many of us the service wasn't that bad - albeit for a couple of hiccups.

Well done to the B run first timers. I made the average 14.4mph although the floods hampered progess.

Thanks all for your company today.

On today's intro. Ride were
Gary Mackintosh (lead)
John Deeley (s)
Sue Roberts (second intro.outing)
Andy Nott
Mark McConkey

A very busy Stables cafe but good food as ever.

Regretfully Sue had an unscheduled dismount just after Seafield Lane resulting in some damaged clothing and a very sore thumb making gear shifting increasingly difficult. Thanks to Gary and Michelle for sorting a lift home from the cafe for Sue (any excuse for a second bacon sandwich Gary!!).

Sue, glad you got back on the bike and made it to the cafe, hope you're ok and hope to see you again.

As per the revised guidelines, I have Sues email address, who should this be forwarded to?

John I have Sue's email address anyway and will be in touch with her. Thanks for recording it. For new riders I just keep their details in a notebook unless they start coming regularly. But by all means send them to me and I'll keep a note.
