Club runs - 13th March

Post by WorcsPhil » 07 Mar 2016 10:25

Despite it being Mothers' Day and a fair few regulars riding the Mad March Hare sportive, last Sunday's club runs still saw 26 riders braving the cold but sunny(ish) roads south to Evesham and Broadway.

A particular welcome to the four new riders on the Intro ride, hope to see you again on other club runs soon.

This weeks rides are:

A: Wellesbourne - James Tate
B: Upton - Paul Johnson
C: Croome Park - Colin Groves

This is the third week running that Paul has led the B ride...let's have some more volunteers please (not that you're not doing a good job, Paul)

The C run will be around 63 miles - subject to last minute rash decisions and general randomness on the day.

Hi Paul, is the B run a 9.15 start as normal?

Due to the flooding in the lower areas down near Charlecote over the last few days I've prepared an alternative destination:

https://www.strava.com/routes/4328786

This takes us up towards Cannock and a Cafe called 'The Mess' at Brewood.

A consensus will be taken on the day as to which route is chosen as I'm sure people do not want to either go wading or get covered from head to foot in mud if the lanes are filthy.

I went to the airfield today via Wellesbourne itself and back via Charlecote and Hampton Lucy, no sign of flood or mud.

No A run today...despite the glorious weather, there were not enough bodies to do a decent A run, so we did a combined A/B with Paul (he has the rider details)...

We'll look to go to Brewood another day...

Today's C runners were

Colin Groves (L)
Leoni Balder (I think I've got the surname wrong - even after asking)
Si Walker
Mark McConkey
Andy Wrightson
Colin Hall
John Deeley
Helen Jamieson
Rob Wade
Pete Norman - diverted off on the way to the cafe for an earlier finish.

Thanks all for your company.

Thanks for leading Colin, and also the much needed lift home. I think that would've been 5 miles too far!

Nice run out today Paul...great conditions for a ride, thanks for leading.

Paul W. - I owe you some money from the café stop...thanks for the loan. I'm unlikely to be on a club run for a few weeks, so can transfer you the money if you want to PM me some details, or I can sort it out next time I see you. Let me know either way, thanks again
