Club runs - 27th March

Post by WorcsPhil » 21 Mar 2016 08:42

27 people out last Sunday over two rides...there seems a bit of a dearth of A-riders around at present, and I hold my hand up also in this regard in that other audaxes etc has prevented myself and Lord Whiteman at least from leading for a while, but April will see us back. If you're an A-rider, hopefully we can re-invigorate these soon. However, the B and C rides grow from strength to strength.

It is Easter Sunday this coming Sunday of course, but club runs stop for nothing...er, except other things. This weeks rides are:

A: Warwick - Ian Taylor
B: Broadway Tower - Paul Johnson (08:15 departure)
C: Lavender Hall - Dave Cox

08:15 departures are fine, I may take a poll soon to do this regularly over May-August for all rides.

Finally, get your name down to lead some rides over the early summer on the other thread, it'd be good if we can fill these up.

Sunday's B run will about 83 miles fairly flat and a 8.15am departure.

What sort of time do you anticipate arriving at the café?

Thanks. I might see you there, but probably won't decide my plans until the weekend.

With the weather forecast not looking great for the weekend we will probably take a shorter route to Broadway tower about 73 miles.

Will that have implications for the start time and/or the ETA at the café?

I can lead the A run on Sunday - word of warning though, it'll be slightly shorter than usual - the destination will be Warwick. It will also be a slightly slower pace than usual - so perfect for anyone recovering from the previous day's time trial or needing to get back a little early for Easter commitments!

I'll do a steady C run to Lavender Hall on Sunday. It is unlikely to be packed out and the length can be varied depending on the weather.

On today's B run to Evesham(Diverted from the Broadway Tower)
Paul Johnson(L)
Neil Orchard
George Barker(Did get to the Broadway Tower)
Just the two of us at the black horse we set out intending to go to Broadway Tower but the headwind just after Bidford forced a diversion to Evesham(Sorry George)

I cycled out, in the wind, all on my lonesome, to meet the A run... I left 30 mins late, got there at 11am, and sat there... waiting, pining, looking lonesomely out the window...

... and the blighters didn't bother to stop at the cafe!!!

I demand all their club run points are reassigned to me, they didn't make it to the cafe. Nyer!

Did you forget the clocks went forward this morning Paul?

There were only 2 of us on the A run so we exercised our creativity and did a mash up route. And we did stop at a cafe, just not the one in Warwick!

I did... I woke up at 9 thought 'bugger!' Then I thought if I go a bit quicker I can meet in the cafe. It was all going so well too. Still, nice ride if a bit windy and got home just before a downpour...

... and then my electric shower broke :(

Happy frigging Ishtar!!

No problem, Paul. Club runs have to be organised and adapted with the needs of the participants to the fore, as opposed to the needs of peripheral folk who might or might not turn up at the café.
