Club runs - 1st May

Post by WorcsPhil » 25 Apr 2016 14:17

Congratulations to all the organisers, but particularly the riders of the Beacon LMTT last Sunday, a truly great event (to watch), with a stunning set of times in the women's race in particular.

So, we're back to club runs this Bank Holiday weekend, but only one leader volunteering so far, but what a leader! Runs are:

A: Volunteer required
B: 100 in 8 to Much Wenlock - Paul Johnson (08:15 start)
C: Volunteer required

Paul promises entirely flat roads, but I suspect he was lying....

...and the first Sunday in each month, there is an intro ride, come along if you're new to cycling, returning to the sport or just fancy a more relaxed ride. This months intro ride is as follows:

Intro Ride: Desitnation is Akamba in Solihull - Andy Terry leading supported by Gary Mac

Hello,

I'm happy to lead a C run tomorrow.

I am going to suggest this route https://www.strava.com/activities/301752297
to www.hillers.co.uk/default.asp - unless anyone know they don't like groups of cyclists with no notice.

Keeping it fairly short so we can miss the rain that is due to arrive mid afternoon.

On the Intro ride today:

Andy Terry (L)
Gary Macintosh (S)
Ben Round
Carolyn Clegg
Neil Evanson
Paul Watkins (guesting from the A run)
Laurence Cooley met us at the cafe

A nice ride to the jungle lodge that is Akamba - and home before the forecast rain. Looking forward to seeing Carolyn and Ben on a C run soon.

Literally moments after I left you in Northfield I trashed my rear mech into the wheel. Managed to limp home after mech removal and quick conversion to single-speed.

I claim all A run points which I think should be about 14, plus I led myself around, behind the intro ride. :)

Since no other blighter turned up!

Apologies for not saying farewell to everyone, but I hadn't realised you were heading in the direction I had come from, and I wanted to take the short way home.

By the way, the avocado sceptics amongst you need to try this: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/avoc ... fried-eggs.

Thanks to Paul for leading today, there's nothing like a flat, short route in the sunshine - and that was nothing like a flat, short route in the sunshine!

Huge respect to Andy for riding the entire route on severely reduced gears!

Thanks Andy for hosting the intro/A ride! 😂, had such a good day. I've picked up a road bike now so hopefully I'll make it for the next c run. I'm a bit concerned for my own safety using clets for the first time, but no pain no gain! 😂 😂 😂

Thanks to Gareth for leading the C run on Sunday, enjoyed myself apart from the pain of the last few miles, but as my first non-intro ride with the club, it wasn't as bad as I feared! Great choice of cafe btw, loved the scones!!
