Club runs - 31st July

Post by WorcsPhil » 25 Jul 2016 11:02

An excellent turnout of 18 this week, despite the Beacon audaxes the day before. Particular credit to the handful who rode on both days...anybody who rides the 'Killer' then is also out the day after almost merits two club run points (almost, but not quite... though the sentiment is there)

It's the RideLondon event this Sunday, with a number of Beacon riders entered including the two 'official' Beacon teams, so we may be a few riders short on club runs, but I'm still expecting a good turn out...and let's support Ian Simpson on leading his first A-run!!

This weeks' volunteers

A: Wyevale Garden Centre (Stratford) - Ian Simpson
B: Cobhouse Fisheries - Paul Johnson
C: Bewdley SVR Cafe Dave Cole

Usual message from me... let's try to get this last vacancy for leader filled sooner rather than later.

Thanks Phil for the intro. New venue so hopefully meets the grade. Black Horse-Black Hill-Black Horse approximately 60 miles. Riders will need locks as the coffee shop is towards back of centre, with bikes parked at the side. One short stretch on a dual carriageway to be navigated but filter lanes at each turning so care & attention needed. There are alternative routes but these can be introduced next time if successful run. Otherwise hopefully see you all on Sunday. If anyone wants to buy a grow bag for the return journey, please feel free to do so!

Despite having to remember the route after a Garmin failure, first lead of an 'A' run appears to have been successful? On the ride today was:

Ian Simpson (L)
Martin McGowan
Adrian Ravenscroft
Steve Philpot
Oliver Timms

Approximately 60 miles BH to BH average 18mph, well done all.

Sorry Pete
You weren't in attendance when the register was taken.

You probably could do with a better bike - that one you're riding looks the type of bike a man in his late 50s would ride.

I'm thinking of getting a Pinerwhatsit or something else trendy but it may be too late for a mid life crisis
