Club runs - 23rd October

Damp squib. After a good run of over 30 club run riders every week, the lack of volunteer leaders, other events and awful weather meant that we only had 5 people out on club runs on Sunday. That's almost like other clubs.

Well done to all those on the Brum half marathon, and the Cat and Fiddle Sportive, where I read on strava that the weather was in the 70's, factor 30 had to be applied and the views were extensive on a beautiful day...er, I think. Myself, Phil W and Keith A were out on a Saturday audax, where the weather actually was perfect!

Thanks to Colin Groves for leading the one run (and Daniel and Gemma, in particular for turning up on a rotten morning!), on what turned out to be a nice day after the early morning rain went away.

So let's try to get back to normal this Sunday. We're still lacking some people to step up and lead C-runs for some reason despite good turn outs when a leader is listed...you know what you need to do.

Here's this weeks rides....

A: Clows Top - Matt Hale
B: Bewdley SVR Cafe - Nick Shenton
C: Kinver - Michael Balenski

Owing to illness, a lack of riding recently and not being able to pre-ride my route to Brewood.

This Sunday's B Club Run destination is to be changed to Bewdley SVR Cafe.

Heading out via Stourport and returning via Kinver. Approx 55 miles in length.

Thanks, Nick...destination changed.

Be good if we could get a C-run leader this week...weather looks ok, so put yourself forward. There is an excellent and sizeable C-run community in the club, so let's make the most of it by spreading the leadership duties around.

Oi! C Runners, you need a leader

If indeed we don't have a 'C Run' tomorrow... I'd be willing to lead any 'c' riders who'd still like to go out for a spin over to Kinver and back.

I should stress though this would kinda be instead of a C ride. I say this as it'll be a little ad-hoc etc! I'll be doing the ride from memory (my garmin is so unreliable - I can't trust it) and as such it will be pretty direct route out (on quiet roads) through Belbroughton, Churchill etc returning the same way. It's also around 40 miles instead of the usual 50. There's a few hills on the return but nothing a C rider can't handle. We can stop at Kinver high st for a cafe stop hopefully.

This is very much a fall back option so others please feel free to lead if you prefer. However if no other offers come forward - at least any c riders out tomorrow will get a ride. I'll attempt to post a version of the route to be downloaded but will see!

Cheers

Mike

Unofficial C Run approx 38 - 40 miles to Kinver. Proposal for those interested is an easy-going pace... a few of climbs should hopefully off-set the shorter distance. Cafe stop on the high street or failing that the Kinver Edge farm shop (maize maze cafe)

I'm unable to load up a Garmin file it seems - but route will take in Dayhouse Bank, Belbroughton, Churchill on the way out. The return will be similar but via Clent and St Kennels Pass. All familar locations hopefully so am sure we'll manage. If a proper C Run materialises then we'll save this for another time. Otherwise see you at blackhorse for 9:15 departure tomorrow! :-)

Apologies for the last minute post but I will be unable to lead today's B Run due to illness.

I've been suffering with a heavy cold the last few days which has now gone onto my chest so I think it would be unwise for me to be out riding.

Anyone wishing to take the B to Bewdley this was my proposed route.

A change of plan for the C ride, which went to Dunnington, in consultation with Mike. A well disciplined ride with no incidents on a chilly but pleasant day. Riders were as follows;

Si Walker (Leading)
Mike Balenski
Ben Round
Lauren Derbyshire
Adrian McHugh
Mark McConkey
James Bramwell
Neil Evanson

At the Cafe
Bob Green and company (sorry, I forgot the lady's name)

Many thanks Alan for stepping in at the last minute.

Gutted I couldn't make it but it was the right decision given my condition at 7 this morning.

Keith's birthday special to Clows Top (A run)

Riders were:
Matt Hale (leading)
Keith Adcock
Craig Walmsley
Ben Walmsley
Ian Taylor
Matt Regan
Jose Binatti Jr
Steve Philpott

2 **flat**s and an errant qr wheel nut to report. A hilly route, including the wall-like Wynniatts Way, meant tired legs for the return leg (mainly mine!) Thanks to all for a great day out

No worries Nick. We did cut out a couple of the lumpy bits and also cut it short going to Bewdley coming out of Stourport as you'll see from Strava. As it was we didnt get to the cafe till around 11:30 anyway.

I turned of at Dodford, and there were a couple of people with tired legs, but hopefully everyone got back okay?

Thanks Alan for leading.

Following a chest infection and almost 6 weeks off the bike I foolishly thought I could tap out 55 miles on a B run to Bewdley and back...
The return leg took its toll and thanks Alan and the guys for marking the junctions and hanging back.
Big thanks to Andy and another (apologies don't no name) who rode with me back to Northfield. Great support and ethic / ethos no one left behind. Well done Beacon.....

Thanks for leading the B run Alan, a new route to Bewdley for me; half the time I had no idea where I was, and that's no bad thing.
