Club runs - 15th January

Post by WorcsPhil » 09 Jan 2017 09:47

A lovely, mild day saw 39 runners and riders out on Sunday. Looking back through the records, this week is always popular to ride, but be good to keep this up through January.

Thanks to Matt Clegg, Nick S and Dave C. for a varied set of rides this week, and it's interesting to see the Beacon Burst well attended. Don't forget, if you see a Beacon burst advertised, you are more than welcome to volunteer to lead a corresponding caf ride, or as Andy Terry suggested a week or two ago, pre-announcing the breaking off half way round for those who do want a bacon sandwich / quinoa salad stop.

Unusually this week, we don't have a B-run leader yet, but suspect people will jump at this opportunity...this week's rides are:

A: Evesham - Chris Ashford
B: Honeybourne - Paul Johnson
C: Flyford Flavell - George Barker

Sunday's C run will be to Auntie Rita's tea rooms at Flyford Flavel. The route is an undulating 92km (57mi). However, it includes a little 'appenix' down from Flyford to Bishampton, which can be removed by a straightforward surgical procedure if we experience any grumbling, e.g. in the event of seasonal affective disorder (current forecast is for rain and temperatures in the range of 5 to 8 C). I anticipate leading at about 22-23kph (14mph).

A Run to Evesham

Post by caashford » 14 Jan 2017 11:19

Following the publication of the Beacon Cycling Club article in Cycling Weekly, this weeks A run will be to Evesham for Bread Pudding!

Weather isn't looking great for tomorrow, so I will see how wet / cold it is in the morning before heading out.
Ice = No Ride, Rain = Maybe no ride... I'm just a soft northerner ;-)

There will be a minor change to the published C route on account of a road closure in Barnt Green.

Looking at your Strava route it's Rose Hill and Twatling Road then?

My mistake, you're going the other way round - returning via Lickey.
